Sessa announced that its Board of Directors has approved $150,000 in grants to 22 local organizations through its Community Investment Program\u2019s spring round, an increase of $50,000 over previous rounds.\u00a0 A total of 70 non-profits had requested nearly $1 million.\u00a0 Coast Central also supports its communities through sponsorships and college scholarships for a total of $650,000 this year throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.\u00a0 Additionally, Coast Central employees contribute over 3,500 hours annually in volunteerism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring 2023 recipients include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Humboldt\/Trinity Counties<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$25,000 Dream Quest<\/strong>; new community youth center<\/li>\n<li><strong>$6,000 Willow Creek Fire Safety Council; <\/strong>storage unit for chipper and trailer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Humboldt County<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$15,587 Clarke Historical Museum<\/strong>; dehumidifier for mold prevention<\/li>\n<li><strong>$11,492 Garberville Fire Protection<\/strong>; slip-in unit for fire truck<\/li>\n<li><strong>$9,330 Humboldt Skatepark Collective<\/strong>; new McKinleyville skatepark<\/li>\n<li><strong>$9,000 Arcata House Partnership;<\/strong> ceiling baffles &amp; chairs for emergency shelter<\/li>\n<li><strong>$7,000 211 Humboldt;<\/strong> clothing for low-income families<\/li>\n<li><strong>$6,800 Big Lagoon Community Services<\/strong>; generator for water supply<\/li>\n<li><strong>$5,000 Cutten Ridgewood Recreation<\/strong>; snack shack repairs<\/li>\n<li><strong>$5,000 Free to Fly Foundation<\/strong>; gift cards for school clothes\/supplies<\/li>\n<li><strong>$5,000 Humboldt Bridges to Success<\/strong>; youth enrichment activities<\/li>\n<li><strong>$4,955 Humboldt Spay &amp; Neuter; <\/strong>comfort room\/supplies for families<\/li>\n<li><strong>$4,000 North Coast Stand Down; <\/strong>winter supplies for veterans<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,500 Lion\u2019s Club of McKinleyville; <\/strong>spot vision device<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,500 Humboldt Bay Fire;<\/strong> marine rescue equipment<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,500 Bridgeville Community Center; <\/strong>van for food deliveries<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,400 Hoopa High School; <\/strong>technology equipment for student competition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Del Norte County<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$7,500 Del Norte Amateur Radio Club; <\/strong>upgrades to emergency communication<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,775 Coast Redwood Arts Association; <\/strong>art workshops and kits for families<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Trinity County<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$5,143 Weaverville Fire Dept; <\/strong>CPR training supplies<\/li>\n<li><strong>$2,848 Lewiston Sparkies; <\/strong>tools to clear flammable vegetation<\/li>\n<li><strong>$2,670 Watershed Research &amp; Training; <\/strong>safety equipment for teen program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWith thanks to our volunteer Board for approving the additional funds, we feel very fortunate to invest even more in local non-profits\u2019 tremendous efforts to take care of our communities,\u201d stated Sessa.\u00a0 \u201cClearly, we are seeing significant increases in a variety of needs throughout our three counties, and together we can certainly make an impact.\u00a0 Individuals and businesses who bank with us directly contribute to supporting our giving efforts.\u201d\u00a0 The fall round of grants opens August 1 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastccu.org\/community\/community-giving\/\">coastccu.org\/community\/community-giving<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coast Central Credit Union President\/CEO James T.
