Over $14 million in grants have been provided to the community by the McLean Foundation in its 20-year history.\u00a0 The time had come to build \u201ca gathering place\u201d to enable the community to come together in one special facility: the McLean Campus.<\/p>\r\n

In support of the sprawling, multi-functional project located in Fortuna, Coast Central Credit Union\u2019s Board of Directors approved a $9 million loan to help fund the Center.\u00a0 Located on some 37 acres on Newburg Road, the facility will house Fortuna Senior Services, Remi Vista Counseling Services, Humboldt Senior Resource Center, Gene Lucas Community Center, the McLean Foundation, as well as classes, programs, and areas available for rent.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cCoast Central has been committed to a \u2018people helping people\u2019 approach since our beginnings nearly 70 years ago,\u201d stated Bob K. Moore, VP, Chief Credit Officer.\u00a0 \u201cWe are very proud to join the McLean Foundation in providing services to our community in recognition of Mel and Grace McLean\u2019s commitment to giving.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

McLean President Dennis Scott commented, \u201cWhat started as an $8-$10 million project has turned into upwards of $19 million.\u00a0 We definitely needed to partner with a truly community-minded institution like Coast Central.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

Founded in 1950, Coast Central Credit Union is the largest member-owned financial institution in the area, with over 69,000 members and operating 11 Member Services Branches throughout Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity counties, including McKinleyville and Bayshore Mall, which are open seven days a week.\u00a0 Additionally, members have access to a network of 30,000 free CO-OP ATMs nationwide.
