Sessa announced that its Board of Directors has approved $100,000 in grants through its Community Investment Program to 10 local organizations for its spring 2020 round of community giving. Coast Central also supports its communities through sponsorship, college scholarship, and employee volunteer programs. Spring recipients include:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-decoration: underline;\">Humboldt County<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: -0.4em;\">\n<li><strong>$24,600<\/strong>: <strong>Companion Animal Foundation<\/strong> for equipment for mobile vet unit<\/li>\n<li><strong>$10,000<\/strong>: <strong>Northern CA Community Blood Bank<\/strong> for its bloodmobile replacement<\/li>\n<li><strong>$10,000<\/strong>: <strong>Pacific Coast Fish, Wildlife, &amp; Wetlands<\/strong> for a truck for transporting materials and people<\/li>\n<li><strong>$3,780<\/strong>: <strong>Willow Creek Fire Safe Council<\/strong> for wildfire protection through brush removal<\/li>\n<li><strong>$2,903<\/strong>: <strong>Mad River Girls Fastpitch Softball<\/strong> for masks, chin replacements, and other equipment<\/li>\n<li><strong>$2,417<\/strong>: <strong>Arcata School District<\/strong> for a food warmer for its \u201cEat Well Learn Well\u201d program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-decoration: underline;\">Del Norte County<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: -0.4em;\">\n<li><strong>$20,000<\/strong>: <strong>County of Del Norte Sheriff<\/strong> for establishment of a K-9 program<\/li>\n<li><strong>$11,300<\/strong>: <strong>Humane Society of Del Norte<\/strong> for surgery, carriers, and fuel costs<\/li>\n<li><strong>$10,000<\/strong>: <strong>Redwood School<\/strong> for an agility course and playground equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-decoration: underline;\">Trinity County<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: -0.4em;\">\n<li><strong>$5,000: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Weaverville Fire Protection District <\/strong>for a hazard reduction dump trailer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to all 50 local organizations who submitted applications totaling $700,000 for their tireless work to improve the quality of life in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties,\u201d Sessa stated.\u00a0 \u201cWe also extend appreciation to our membership for your loyalty that enables support of these 10 very deserving grant recipients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;\">CCCU COVID Community Care Fund Established<\/span><br \/>\nCoast Central\u2019s Board of Directors also committed an additional $50,000 to offer stability and support to local non-profit organizations currently experiencing significant financial hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0 The COVID Community Care Fund features a streamlined application process, with funding amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000.\u00a0 Applications can be accessed on its COVID-19 resource page at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastccu.org\/covid-19-coronavirus-updates-and-info\/\">https:\/\/www.coastccu.org\/covid-19-coronavirus-updates-and-info\/<\/a> and emailed to <a href=\"mailto:marketinginfo@coastccu.org\">marketinginfo@coastccu.org<\/a>.\u00a0 <strong>Deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 13, 2020, by 5 pm.\u00a0 <\/strong>For questions, please contact VP Marketing &amp; Communications Colleen Toste at (707) 445-8801, ext. 309 or <a href=\"mailto:ctoste@coastccu.org\">ctoste@coastccu.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sessa continued, \u201cIt\u2019s impossible to discuss supporting the community without considering those individuals, families, businesses, and organizations currently suffering hardships in conjunction with COVID-19.\u00a0 Our hope is that our new Community Care Fund, in addition to our special loan and other programs for our members, can help ease some of the burden experienced to enable non-profits to continue their essential work on behalf of others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1950, Coast Central Credit Union (CCCU) is the largest member-owned financial institution in the area, with over 70,000 members and 11 Member Services Branches.\u00a0 Anyone who lives or works in Humboldt, Del Norte or Trinity counties can bank with CCCU.
