The American Red Cross and Coast Central Credit Union (CCCU) are making it easier for North coast residents to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. A \u201cHurricane Sandy Relief Fund\u201d (# 182300) has been established, and the public is invited to visit any Coast Central Credit Union
\nmember services branch to donate to this fund.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur members, volunteer Board members, management and staff at Coast Central Credit Union are deeply concerned about the families along the East Coast affected by hurricane Sandy,\u201d said Dennis Hunter, Vice President of Marketing for CCCU,\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWe strongly support the efforts of the American Red Cross in providing the help that these families need.\u201d<\/p>\n
Contributions for Hurricane Sandy Relief will be used to assist the American Red Cross in the ongoing effort to provide shelter, food, health and mental health and other services for people in multiple states.\u00a0 Shelters are open in nine states, and thousands of people have used them as refuge. The Red Cross has provided over 160,000 meals thus far, and is deploying 12 mobile kitchens to the area. 50 trailers of relief supplies have been deployed, as well as more than two\u2010thirds of the entire Red Cross fleet of emergency response vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis relief effort will be ongoing for some time,\u201d said Barbara Caldwell, Executive Director of the Humboldt County Chapter of the American Red Cross, \u201cwe have just deployed another Humboldt County volunteer to New York, and expect others to be deployed in the coming weeks. The Red Cross very much needs financial donations to help us in this effort, and appreciates the support of Coast Central Credit Union.\u201d<\/p>\n
